Prepare the Montreal departure
Provide the staircase layout, large-item dimensions and lawful truck location. If you leave a Plateau or Rosemont walk-up, assess tight landings before accepting the inventory. If you leave a downtown condo, send the reserved loading and elevator window rather than just the address.
Plan the Toronto receiving appointment
Ask the destination manager for service-elevator rules, dock clearance, permitted hours and any contractor documents. Toronto means a specific address, not an interchangeable GTA destination: a downtown tower, suburban house and distant loading dock need different plans. Share the new information before pickup.

Keep transport and possession separate
Do not infer delivery from a passenger-car driving estimate. Loading, the transport arrangement, traffic and building access also determine the schedule. Ask whether the agreed service can meet your key handover, and plan essentials or storage for any gap. Confirm changes in writing.
Specify the Toronto receiving address, not just the city
A downtown condo, a house with a driveway and a suburban apartment require different delivery plans. Send the exact entrance, loading point, floor and building rules with the quote request. If a property manager must approve the move, obtain that approval before agreeing to an arrival window. Give the mover a reachable destination contact; “Toronto delivery” alone does not explain a restricted dock or a long corridor.
Coordinate your own travel with the shipment
Ask for the agreed pickup and delivery windows in writing before arranging your own travel. Keep keys, documents and overnight supplies with you. If you cannot meet the truck, name an authorised receiving contact and explain room placement beforehand. Do not assume household goods will arrive when your car does. Clarify how the company will communicate an update and what happens if the destination access window must be changed.
Coordinate Montreal and Toronto access
The destination reservation must work with the actual agreed transport window.
Compare the same Montreal–Toronto service
Use the same inventory and access sheet for each quotation. Ask whether packing, furniture assembly and any storage are included, and confirm the transport arrangement. A smaller total is not automatically the better offer if it omits unloading tasks or uses a delivery window your building cannot accept. For Toronto to Montreal, repeat the assessment with the addresses reversed; departure and destination responsibilities change even on the same city pair.
Use a two-building comparison sheet
Record the Montreal origin and Toronto destination side by side: keys, floor, stairs, elevator, loading point and available contact. Include whether the Toronto address is in the city itself or elsewhere in the GTA, since the precise receiving address belongs in the booking. Ask each building about its own rules; the departure procedure does not transfer automatically to the new property. Measure a large sofa or dining table against the limiting points of the destination route before it is wrapped. If the receiving address changes after assessment, send the new information and request confirmation of the revised plan. Keep the sheet with your inventory so the person receiving the truck sees the same instructions as the mover. This is particularly useful when one household member travels first and another remains to supervise loading.
Prepare for a receiving window instead of guessing arrival
Confirm the actual service arrangement and delivery window with the company. The driving time between cities does not, by itself, define a household delivery appointment: loading, the agreed transport arrangement and building access are separate parts of the job. Keep a phone available for updates and assign an authorised contact if you will be travelling or working. Pack essentials for the interval between your arrival and the goods. At destination, have a room-placement plan and a clear route before the first furniture is unloaded. Reconcile carton numbers and large items against the inventory. For the reverse Toronto-to-Montreal move, redo the access assessment in that direction; Montreal’s stairs and lawful loading point may now govern the final handling. Use the reverse directional service page when requesting the corresponding route.
Montreal–Toronto coordination sheet
Confirm pickup and destination arrangements separately before setting the move sequence.
