How to Move a Piano

Montreal Movers
Feb 21, 2014 Packing and Moving Tips 0 Comment

Pianos are typically valuable and moving a piano is not an easy job, it requires specialized know-how to move a piano without damaging it.

What makes the transport of a piano difficult is its sheer weight. The average modern piano weighs at around 500 pounds while the older and grander pianos can weigh up to 900 pounds.

There are a lot of factors to consider when moving a piano, for example that the legs do not snap off or that the pedals do not get caught in the stairs or damaged during the move. In cases where a piano simply does not fit to where the client wants it to be moved, we chose a creative approach. Take for example encountering a narrow staircase, our professional movers will opt to bypass the stairs and hoist up or down the stairwell.

Montreal Movers does not shy away from a challenge. We are capable of getting all your grand instruments to your new home safely. We use dollies designed specifically for piano moving. These dollies can roll across a hardwood floor without marking the finish and without damaging the piano.

You can trust Montreal Movers to safely move your piano.
